Ricci W. Fong (PhD) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK). She received her BA in psychology, linguistics & philosophy, PGDE in English language teaching, MEd in special education, and PhD in gifted education from the University of Hong Kong (HKU). Before embarking on her doctorate, she was an English teacher in primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong where she gained insights into the needs of gifted and talented students, including those with twice-exceptionality. She had participated in various GRF and TDG projects in educational psychology, school guidance and counseling, and teaching innovations over the years. Her current research centers on the influence of perfectionism in the Chinese sociocultural context, as well as students' psychological strengths and well-being development. Besides engaging in research activities, she is currently serving the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children (WCGTC) as a Hong Kong delegate to facilitate knowledge transfer among members from 47 countries and regions. For the local community of practice, she had delivered professional development sessions for various primary schools, as well as the Hong Kong Psychological Society (HKPS) and the Gifted School Network; and she has been working closely with the Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education (HKAGE) to deliver seminars and workshops for gifted students, parents, and practitioners in the professional community.
